Aish UK celebrated its 25th anniversary with 600 supporters at a gala dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel in London’s Park Lane.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis praised the educational charity’s “immeasurable” contribution to Yiddishkeit. “There can be no greater mitzvah than to transform the life of another person to a life of meaning and a life of joy — and through those people to guarantee the continuity of that life for all the generations to come.”
Sir Mick Davis presented Rabbi Moshe and Liat Mayerfeld with an award acknowledging their 20 years of service to Aish UK.
There were also speeches from Aish students and alumni.
The £800,000 raised will go towards the work of the eight Aish UK branches, educational programmes in schools and universities and outreach activities.
Aish UK executive director Rabbi Daniel Rowe said the dinner turnout was “testament to the impact that Aish has on so many people’s lives.
“As we look forward to the next 25 years, we hope that together we can create a legacy for the next generation of British Jews.”
