Liberal Judaism’s youth movement, LJY-Netzer, has ended its fortnight summer camp two days early after a confirmed Covid case and three suspected cases confined to a single year group.

The decision was taken on safety grounds and also to enable parents to collect their children from the venue, close to London, before Shabbat.

Children who had been in contact with those affected were isolated and other camp participants kept at a distance.

The movement says procedures followed were in line with risk assessments conducted before and during the camp.

Liberal Judaism CEO Rabbi Charley Baginsky said: "Our 12 days of Kadimah summer camp were a wonderful and important experience for our members. However, our risk assessment reached the point where we felt it was necessary to end camp two days early.

“We did not take this decision lightly and we would have liked to finish Kadimah 5781 on the high it deserves. But our main priority was the safety and wellness of our LJY-Netzer members."
