Akiva Primary School in Finchley has named its new headteacher, who will succeed Susy Stone, who is retiring at the end of the summer term after 10 years in charge.

Claire Silver, deputy head at Oxford Gardens Primary in Kensington and a member of New North London Synagogue, will lead the Progressive primary from September.

Governors told parents they had been impressed by her “energy and enthusiasm, her strategic planning and her ability to motivate and work with others”.

They looked forward to her “joining our community to secure its continued success and improvement, working with us to continue to provide our pupils with a high-quality education in a Progressive Jewish environment”.
