It was the turn of girls’ netball to get the latest Maccabi GB inter-school sports tournament treatment – and it resulted in Akiva claiming the crown in the Year 6 event.
Sponsored by All Aboard, 12 schools took part, as they fielded 17 different teams, ensuring a total of 170 players took part in the competition.
A thrilling final – watched by 100 spectators – saw Akiva Red beat Sinai Red 3-1, with Maccabi GB’s School and Sports Coordinator Nathan Bloohn saying: “It was fantastic to see such a high-quality tournament with so many players and schools taking part. The knockout rounds were incredibly competitive, with several closely-contested matches played throughout the day, ultimately ending in a dramatic final.
“And in what was our final netball tournament of the year, the event was a fantastic showcase of teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship, bringing a brilliant end to another successful sporting season.”
