£7 million restoration plan announced for Lauderdale Road Synagogue

The redevelopment will also improve community facilities at the Sephardi synagogue

The S & P Sephardi Community has unveiled a £7 milliion plan to restore its landmark 130-year-old Lauderdale Road Synagogue in Maida Vale, London and to develop community facilities on the site.

Urgent work is needed to preserve key architectural features at the synagogue, which is home to the SPSC’s largest congregation.

The site also houses the headquarters of the UK’s oldest synagogue organisation.

Sian Levy, vice chair of the SPSC, said: “This is a major and necessary project to protect the future of Lauderdale Road Synagogue.
