● Manchester singer Katie Bernstein was named runner-up in the prestigious Stephen Sondheim Student Performer of the Year competition.
The 22-year-old began her singing career with local Jewish amateur dramatic societies and did her first gig supporting Brit Awards winner Katie Melua at the BBC's Proms in the Park event. Katie has joined an agency and is now auditioning for West End shows.
She said: "I was so grateful to be named runner-up. I've made a lot of good contacts and it's a step in the right direction for my career."
Katie performed at a JNF dinner for former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, and trained at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
● The Marom group in Liverpool has enjoyed its busiest and most successful academic year.
Events included a visit from the Masorti group's leaders at the city's Egg Café, followed by a visit from Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth of St Albans Masorti Synagogue.
Students took part in a pint-for-a-pint session, donating blood in return for a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
The year ended with a Carlebach Shabbat service and oneg attended by more than 50 people.
● Students from Imperial College took part in a four-week course on Jewish marriage hosted by Chabad of South Kensington.
● London JSoc held its final event of the year – a Lag b'Omer barbecue. Suzanna Smulovitch said the party was "an absolute success".
