Durham JSoc held its first ever Muslim-Jewish forum last week with the university Islamic society. Over 60 people came to mix, mingle and, as they said, “put an end to ignorance”. JSoc member Lee Goldfarb said: “It was liberating to interact on an apolitical level; to talk about our experiences as students – and our love of home foods”. Hummus as the key to bridging the religious divide. Who knew?

ON YER BIKE

The hills were alive with the sound of students on Sunday as Rabbi Michael Rosenfeld-Schueler led a 16-mile bicycle ride through the Oxfordshire countryside. Valiant pedalling efforts were rewarded with hot soup and a lesson on bicycles in Jewish law. It was “an excellent way to exercise our legs and minds on a Sunday morning”, enthused student Sarah Sheppard.
