● Jewish students at Middlesex University have set up a new JSoc.
The newly-created committee signed up 30 members at last month's Freshers Fair, and has recorded more than 100 people showing interest in educational and social events.
One of the first events was a Halloween bar crawl, attended by around 15 students. A sushi night will be held on Monday, November 14, in support of Tzedek. Students will learn the art of sushi-making, as well as hearing about the charity's student volunteering schemes in India and Ghana.
It will be followed by a jazz night and karaoke event in the coming weeks. Events are mainly based at the university's Hendon campus.

● London JSoc's committee hopes to organise a ball for next term following substantial interest from students.
UJS's London officer Emily Black is working with students to form a committee to organise the venue, arrange catering and select a charity to donate proceeds to.
She is looking for two people to take on the roles of co-chairs to lead the team. If you fit the bill, email Emily at emily@ujs.org.uk by Sunday with examples of your previous experience and suitability for the job.

● A campaign is underway to provide funding for a one-year academic scholarship for a postgraduate Israeli student at Oxford Brookes University.
Organisers from Oxford Jewish Chaplaincy Board have already collected more than £12,000 and hope to reach £20,000 in time to fund a student to start a course in September next year.
It is hoped he or she would be an advocate for Israel on campus and engage with fellow students to promote the country.
The university already runs a similar scholarship scheme for a Palestinian student from Gaza.
