● Liverpool JSoc celebrates its 90th anniversary with a charity ball on March 3.
Money will be raised for three charities: the Lone Soldier Centre, which supports young immigrants and volunteers serving in the Israeli Defence Forces; Langdon College, the residential specialist further education college for Jewish students with learning difficulties; and the Daniel Bleiberg Trust, set up in memory of a student who tragically died in a road accident outside Liverpool's Hillel House in 2000.

● More than 130 people attended Leeds JSoc's first Friday night dinner organised by the new committee.
The following week a Rubik's Cube-themed launch party was held at the city's Vodka Revolution bar. Party-goers received free T-shirts and drinks and took part in challenges. An interactive "Twitter wall" displayed messages and pictures during the evening.
● UJS has encouraged its members to take part in a blood drive.
It wants JSocs to ask students to attend blood donation sessions, or run their own, regularly on campuses.
Volunteers at each JSoc are being sought to organise the drive, set up in memory of Carol Kay, who died in December following a long illness. Mrs Kay, the mother of two Jewish students, received blood during the course of her battle with cancer.

● UCL JSoc welcomed speakers Sir Martin Sorrell and Lord Winston, attracting more than 200 people on each occasion.
Sir Martin, head of advertising giant WPP, spoke about his career and his outlook on the economy. Morality in science and Jewish views of scientific issues were on the agenda for Lord Winston.
Adam Taylor, UCL JSoc president, said: "The events were our most successful this year and it was a privilege to host such distinguished figures. We have several more high profile speakers arranged this year."
