A ‘Buy One - Give One' event outside Somerfields Supermarket on Burton Road, West Didsbury, will take place between 11.00am and 5.00pm.

Rosemary Taylor of Manchester Reform Synagogue and her team of 18 volunteers will ask shoppers to buy an extra item and donate it for the homeless.

In association with Mike Evans, Lay Reader at Christchurch, in Darley Ave, West Didsbury and a local Quaker Group, the proceeds of the day will benefit The Night Shelter (Central Manchester), Cornerstones - a Roman Catholic centre which feeds and supports homeless people in Hulme, Manchester, Unity - an organisation in Oldham which supports and feeds homeless asylum seekers, and Mustard Tree, a homeless charity supported by local Quakers.

Members of Manchester Reform Synagogue are performing other mitzvot. Cheder children are packaging gifts for needy families in the area. There is a clean up of Southern Cemetery. The Synagogue's choir will be singing at Heathlands Village, and at Brookvale there is a cycling event and bulb planting. Parklands Residents are visiting the Manchester Jewish Museum.
