JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND 1
CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 4 FC TEAM B 1
Catford & Bromley booked their place in round two with a deserved victory against FC Team B.
The Cats were forced into an early reshuffle but this did not disrupt their attacking play as Eli Baraty claimed a first-half double; one from a defensive error and the other a superb half volley from outside the area.
The home side looked solid at the back throughout and felt somewhat aggrieved when the ref awarded a penalty that was converted to make it 2-1 at half time.
Team put the Cats backline on the back foot for a time but they defended resolutely, with Guy Ben Aroya inspired in goal.
Yonni Bord was running the show on the left of midfield and was too much to handle. With almost an hour gone, he scored a wonder goal, beating three players onthe left win, cutting into the penalty area, beating another player and then smashing the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle with the outside of his left foot.
Catford then hit the post and the bar but still had to be on top of their game at the back to keep Team out.
Right at the death things were evened up on the penalty front as Jamie Sinai was bundled over in the box and Ashley Stokes coolly slotted home the spot kick.
