Simon Linden believes his Blizzard Storm boys can push for promotion following a stunning 3-2 win over high-flying Redbridge at Fairlop.
Dan Simons' 85th minute winner, his second goal of the game, completed a famous win for the Blizzard boys in Essex, with Dean Shaw also on target.
This game has everything. Blizzard showed the league they are no pushovers with a great performance full of passion, fight, discipline and quality.
Redbridge started off rustily having not played for two weeks, but against the run of play, Nathan Sollosi scored with a header from a Sam Rank cross.
The conditions were not helping either team to play flowing football and so it proved as a slip from Jordan Sapler allowed Blizzard to equalise.
Redbridge were trying to play their football, but Blizzard were tough and more than holding their own though Solossi scored a powerful low drive to restore RJC's lead. Yet again, the Redbridge defence switched off and Blizzard equalised once more to make it 2-2 at half time.
With Blizzard paying close attention to the Sollosi brothers, Redbridge continued to make too many mistakes and, after "a controversial but correct change of mind on an offside Blizzard goal," according to RJC boss Jon Jacobs, Simons scored the winner after yet another Redbridge slip.
RJC can have no complaints with the result - we simply didn’t play their brand of fast-flowing football which is a compliment to Blizzard.
Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "Nothing beats winning in Essex - the underdogs against all the odds turning over Redbridge in their own back yard.
"It's a sweet victory and deserved after a shock decision where the ref made a u-turn on a goal in the 80th minute mark which caused total conflict amongst players, the ref and supporters.
"We, on our day, are no pushovers. We stood and up were counted and with the squad I have, we should be right in the mix come the end of season.
"This performance was fantastic - the whole team wanted to win today and I'm hoping we can now build on the last two weeks and go on a great run."
RJC boss Jon Jacobs told JC Sport: "I have no complaints with the result, but the referees have to give protection to the creative players or we will lose them.
"The referee had several chances to book several Blizzard players for scything tackles from behind, but chose to brandish his first card when one of of our players went off injured and didn’t get his permission, no common sense at all and ruined a good spectacle."
