Asher lives in Edgware with his mother and younger brother and sister. He attends City of London Boys’ School, having been at Rosh Pinah Primary. His outside interests are monitoring the money markets and playing his electric guitar and the Nintendo Wii Guitar Hero game
What was special about your simchah?
My education and family taught me to always remember others at times of simchah. I thought of Kisharon, because I wanted to twin my barmitzvah with a special-needs boy who had overcome difficulties in life. I also wanted to keep a relationship with my twin, which is not always possible if it is someone from abroad.
Tell us about the celebration
I was barmitzvah at Edgware Synagogue, and afterwards a small party of family and friends and my rabbi, David Lister, went to Kisharon School in Temple Fortune, as it was not possible for Moishe [my twin] to attend Edgware Synagogue. The boys at Kisharon were delighted to have visitors, and made us very welcome. They davened with enthusiasm and a spirit which humbled me. Rabbi Lister asked me to say the brachot on reading from the Torah, and Moishe stood next to me while I spoke. I was proud that I was saying the words for both of us. Rabbi Lister blessed us both and we danced around. It was a very happy atmosphere. Unfortunately we were not able to have a l’chaim as it was a fast day, but the Kisharon children later enjoyed a fruit feast to celebrate our special day.
