LONDON HAROLDEANS 5 BLIZZARD STORM 3
Haroldeans came from behind twice in a rollercoaster of a match which saw James Abrams seal a deserved win by scoring two goals in the closing minutes of the game.
Blizzard Storm opened the scoring after sloppy defending cost Haroldeans for the second game in a row. Prolific veteran Oli Joseph soon showed why he was brought to the club in the summer, showing great tenancity by pulling two goals back, both from corners; the first with a powerful drive after a scramble in the box, the second with a header directly from the corner kick.
After an end-to-end first half, the second was no less exciting. Marcus Mann, the 'Leeds Luthario' took the game by the scruff of the neck, flicking and tricking his way down the left wing before cutting inside and whipping a wonderstrike into the top corner giving the Blizzard keeper no chance as he could only watch the ball fly into the net. Mann celebrated by holding his shirt aloft, luckily the referee saw the funny side, others may have shown a yellow.
It could be argued that Haroldeans like to do things the hard way and yet again a lapse in conentration cost them. Another goal-mouth scramble was seized upon by Blizzard pegging 'deans back to 3-3 which is the way the game stayed until the dying moments when James Abrams, brother of manager Jonathan Abrams, popped up yet again with two crucial goals as per the previous two wins. That's six in three games for Abrams now.
A well fought game was there for either side to snatch but ultimately, Haroldeans quality particularly with Marcus Mann and Bobby Abrams working tirelessly throughout, shone through giving Haroldeans a much-needed victory after the previous week's drubbing.
Haroldeans boss Jon Abrams told JC Sport: "Once again we are our own worst enemy, conceding early on. We had to get last week's game out of our mind which we have to put down to 'one of those days'.
"This week was all about bouncebackabilty and to be fair to the lads I couldn't have asked for more, the character, committment and desire was outstanding and notwithstanding Blizzard had a few players out due to the early kick off at Spurs, our fitness and quality showed by the two late goals effectively giving us the edge over a hardworking Blizzard team.
"It's a work in progress, we will keep learning, taking one game at a time, looking to improve - overall, I am satisfied with three wins in four which indicates my team is on the up."
