Work Avenue Business Awards Winners 2022

The Jewish community’s leading employment and business support organisation are excited to be celebrating the hard work, dedication and successes of entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Jewish community with the Business Awards 2022.


A business that ensures brand competitions and promotions are ‘kosher’ has been named as the Business of the Year winner at the Work Avenue Business Awards 2022.

PromoVeritas runs more than 1,500 campaigns a year for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Amazon, Walkers, Kellogg’s and Cadbury.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, PromoVeritas has helped give away £50 million of prizes by judging competitions, overseeing TV voting shows and fairly picking winners.

Founder and CEO Jeremy Stern collected the Business of the Year prize at a ceremony and summer BBQ at Work Avenue’s shared workspace, WE Hub in Finchley.

He said: “I feel delighted and honoured to have won Business of the Year at Work Avenue’s Business Awards. Our business is normally the one that operates behind the scenes, making sure that all those prize draws, competitions and Willy Wonka style instant wins that you see online and on supermarket brands are run legally, fairly and securely and that voting for live TV shows are run with integrity. So it was very exciting, for once, for us to be centre stage and in the spotlight for such a wonderful reason, and humbled that the judges selected us.”

Work Avenue is the Jewish community’s leading employment and business support organisation. Its annual Business Awards are a highlight of the communal calendar with more than 200 people attending the event, the first held in person for three years.

Dalkeith Brokerage was named Start-Up of the Year, after establishing itself as one of the UK’s leading experts in trading whisky. The company also produces an award-winning Single Malt Scotch under the brand DS Tayman. The prize was collected by managing director Saul Taylor. He stated: “We started our business right here in WE Hub shared workspace as business client of Work Avenue. We loved the support and camaraderie of the other Hub members. We feel so humbled to be a prize winner today.”

Helena Baker won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year prize for setting up English Speaking Network, Israel’s premier group for English speaking business owners to meet each other and gain clients. Helena was praised by judges for setting up the business after moving to Israel and finding her own opportunities lacking.

The Employer of the Year award went to brand design and digital agency Creative Clinic. Adam Selwyn, Creative Director, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised as Employer of the Year. We constantly look out for the wellbeing of our team, supporting them both with work and personal issues and remain flexible and accommodating to each person’s individual circumstances, especially during the challenging conditions of the pandemic. “

Finally, in a new prize for 2022, Charm Impact was named Green Business of the Year for its work crowdsourcing loans for clean energy entrepreneurs in developing countries. To date, they have invested £1.5million giving more than 350,000 people in Africa access to renewable energy

Co-founder and CEO Gavriel Landau said: “My mother spotted the piece in the JC about the Business Awards and suggested I nominate my business. I am so glad I did as now we have received recognition for all our work in this space.”

The judging panel for the event included Jewish Chronicle editor Jack Wallis Simons and Jewish business leaders Jason Appel, Geoff Hartnell, Laura Jackson and Zoe Sinclair.

Work Avenue Chairman Mark Morris said: “These incredible winners, along with all our entrants and nominees, show the sheer breadth and depth of successful business in the Jewish community.

“At Work Avenue, we know only too well how hard it is to launch a sustainable small business, so it was wonderful to be able to celebrate those talented and brave entrepreneurs in our community who took an idea and turned it into a commercial success.”
