The American TV dance contest Dancing with the Stars had its finale last week. Well done to Donny Osmond for winning and showing that age is not a barrier to learning to dance. He was amazing as ever at 51, and an inspiration to all men who want to take to the floor.
In Strictly Come Dancing it was sad to see Natalie and Vincent go. Natalie has worked so hard and clearly enjoyed every moment. However, in spite of the high energy she never quite mastered the elegance that Ali and Laila have achieved.
Here’s my view on the departing duo and the remaining contestants:
Natalie and Vincent
Natalie’s Rock and Roll was very clumsy, unfortunately. The couple were hampered by the fact that Vincent is only the same height as Natalie and clearly couldn’t lift her.
Ali and Brian
It was amazing that Ali was able to produce such a classy Charleston in spite of the fact that she had been injured. She was short on rehearsal time, but still turned in a star peformance..
Chris and Ola
This rendition of the Charleston was absolutely brilliant. The partnership and chemistry that has been established between these two is lovely to watch.
Ricky and Natalie
Thank goodness the Police didn’t keep Ricky locked up over the weekend – he has to finish Strictly! His Rock and Roll was everything I hoped it would be, high energy and stylish.
Laila and Anton
Once again this pair gave a very competent performance. Laila has achieved a high standard - but I still think that next week will be her last in the contest.
