Dear Member
Welcome to the 2008-9 season of FHU Meetings. As you will see we have a fascinating line up of speakers to interest and excite you and to ensure you get yourverifiable CPD points. KathThorleyopens the batting on October 7th with an overview of medical emergencies, and she is speedily followed on November 20th with a group of speakers from the Dental Buying Group who will review current legislation relating to radiography, health and safety and infection control in the dental practice. Are you fully up to date?
OnJanuary 28th, a real coup: acclaimed periodontal teachers Graham Smart and Philip Owerwill show how an understanding of plaque biofilm science will help you to makeyour perio treatment more interesting and predictable, and then give us some simple ideas that can be used immediately to get better compliance from our patients.
March 30th sees an evening with Jackie Roberts, from the Manchester College of NLP. If you don’t know what that means – come to the meeting! You will learn a brilliant way of understanding what makes people tick and how to build rapport with anyone quickly and easily. Now wouldn’t that be useful?
The May meeting will have to remain a secret for now – but just wait till you hear what it will be! The AGM will be on June 25th.
I hope you will support these meetings and bring guests with you. If you know anyone who could or should be a member of FHU, why not bring them along? Hey, they might even have an enjoyable evening!
Finally, I want to say this: GET INVOLVED!! The FHU is desperate for new members and forexisting members to share the running of the Society. It’s the same people onthe committee this year as last year and the year before that. That’s not because we want to hold onto power. No, it’s because nobody else puts their hand up. I am happy and proud to be leading the FHU again (for the third time), with the help of our loyal Committee members, but there will come a time, perhaps only a few years away, when the current executive will retire from active practice and when that day comes, if today’s twenty, thirty and forty somethings have not taken over thereins, then the FHU will be no more. Is that what you want?
As before, we are grateful to Henry Schein & Co for sponsoring our meetings bymailing the circulars for us. Remember that you can get a special discount on their products for being an FHU member.
I look forward to seeing you on October 7th.
All best wishes,
Philip R Greene
