Always quick to denounce Israel's military actions as "disproportionate", William "The Hague" Hague had the perfect opportunity to demonstrate Britain's "fair and balanced" approach to the Arab-Israel peace process when visiting Palestinian Authority officials earlier this month by expressing criticism of them.
Many people on these blogs and in the wider world believe that the Palestinian Authority is beyond reproach and should never be criticised by any Western leader, in case they decide they don't want to work with us any more, or worse still decide to start attacking us. I believe this is cowardly, dishonest and hypocritical.
Here are just a few problems Mr Hague could, if the Camel Corps had allowed him to, have highlighted:
1) The Palestinian Authority's refusal to recognise Israel as the homeland for the Jewish people, which would have demonstrated their good will and given Israel the confidence to continue the freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria
2) The Palestinian Authority's continued denial of Jewish links to Jerusalem
3) The Palestinian Authority's (successful) lobbying of UNESCO to deny any Jewish connection to Rachel's Tomb or the Cave of the Patriarchs (Petition here)
4) The Palestinian Authority's ongoing and daily incitement against Jews and Israel through their media and educational system
And yet he said nothing, rewarding them with silence for their continued intransigence and belligerence, and encouraging them to continue behaving in much the same manner.
It is time for British leaders to abandon their fawning support for this corrupt, anti-Semitic terrorist entity, and show strong and unambiguous support for our democratic and liberal ally, Israel.
