Every Zionist should be encouraged that a true Zionist like Reuven Rivlin of the Herut wing of the Likud thinks that the Yisrael Beiteinu-sponsored proposal to have a McCarthyite committee looking into the funding of human rights groups is crazy and part of a "dark wave" going through Israel. No doubt other decent true Zionists, such as Benny Begin and Dan Meridor, will condemn this McCarthyist nonsense.
I note with interest that this move was proposed by a hitherto unheard-of Russian-born MK for Yisrael Beiteinu. It seems the ghost of Uncle Joe Stalin is alive and kicking, as it were.
I also note that the leader of that party was described by a Kremlin person (albeit on WikiLeaks) as "one of us". Explains a lot.
Whatever next? Purges? Show trials? Doctors' plots?
All Zionists should condemn this start of a slippery slope. Real Zionists don't let Israel slide down slippery slopes. Real Zionists point out when there's a drunk at the helm of Israel's ship of state. I urge Zionist Federation affiliates Pro-Zion and Meretz to condemn this stupidity.
Anyone supporting this move is not a real Zionist and doesn't have Israel's best interests at heart.
