No scream ice cream

I love ice cream. Regular readers will be aware of this.

But sometimes — after a meaty feast, maybe, or if, as is increasingly the case, you cannot or will not eat milk — you need to ditch the dairy.

Sure, there's always a sorbet - nothing wrong with a fruity or even a chocolate water ice - but the problem is just that. It's water-based and you don't get that satisfying feeling that ice cream gives as it melts on your tongue.

So, the exciting news for those in search of a cooling parev pud is that the choice of vegan ice creams is getting a whole lot wider. Not one but two premium US ice cream brands are bringing their two vegan versions this side of the pond. Watch out for Ben and Jerry's and Haagen Daz's non-dairy desserts coming to a supermarket near you.
