WJR has four places available for the London Marathon, taking place 26 April 2009. The Marathon is no easy feat. But completing the 26 mile course from Greenwich Park to The Mall is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. By becoming part of the WJR marathon team you will be making a huge difference to the vulnerable and isolated families that we support. And we'll be on hand to help you every step of the way, assisting you with training tips and fundraising advice from start to finish. WJR has just four places available, with a minimum sponsorship target of £5,000.

If you enjoy cycling, we are also organising a London to Paris cycle ride from 21-24 June 2009. Your fitness levels will be put to the test as you pedal 300km over three days through the South Downs, the Normandy countryside and finally on to the Eiffel Tower. There will be plenty of opportunities to get to know your fellow cyclists during the trip. And as a reward for your efforts, the fourth day is free for you to explore the sights of Paris or simply relax and unwind before boarding the Eurostar for the journey home. WJR has up to 50 places available, with a minimum sponsorship target of £1,500.

The sponsorship money you raise for both will help us extend a Jewish lifeline to people living below the poverty line in countries as diverse as Belarus, South Africa and Argentina. Your achievement will be rewarded by your sense of elation at having completed a tough physical test and by the knowledge that some of the world's struggling communities will benefit as a direct result of your efforts.
Initial enquiries for both the Marathon and Cycle Ride should be made by 20 November 2008.
