Of-course it is. Whether you have a headache or something more serious, you want to feel better. But how?
The Jewish Chronicle of 100 years ago was full of advertisements selling their pills and potions that will somehow, magically, cure all. This is a selection from just one issue, 4th May 1906.
PREVENT THE FLU
First of all, prevention. The flu is a virus that we struggle with even today. How not to get the flu? Don’t bother with sneezing into your elbow, washing your hands or anything like that. This advert sets you straight.

At least this advertiser sends you to the doctor.
CURE YOUR HEAD AND YOUR STOMACH
You don’t have to go to the doctor, though. Take Carter’s pills – they help for everything.

STRENGTHEN YOUR SPINE
Scoliosis? Don’t bother with a back brace. Get your health back by just popping a pill.

You don’t need to read the story – I’m sure you are already convinced.
CURE DIABETES
No, you can’t cure diabetes with a pill. You need an Antidiabeticum.

AND JUST IN CASE THEY DON’T WORK
Of-course, they probably will work. Let me re-phrase that. They will certainly work. But you might want to invest in:

Life insurance. Just in case.
