I can't believe it...not quite sure where the past two months have gone, but this appears to be my first blog since mid-December! Well, with Ilan celebrating his 4th birthday in two days, and Michal reaching her three-month milestone yesterday, I thought I'd do some online contemplating!
Thank G-d, the early ill health Michal suffered is now behind us, and she's now in a 7pm-6am sleeping routine, which is amazing! "Do you use drugs", I was asked by a friend of mine in shul on Shabbat, who himself has three kids over the age of three! "Er, no", I replied..."it's all about routine!" I said smugly!! It worked with Ilan, so we've tried it with Michal, and so far it's working ;-) Yes, I'm smiling smugly as a write this! As most people know, babies don't tend to 'do much'. However, when they smile, it's the most amazing feeling in the world...well, my three month daughter smiling at me, certainly is.
Anyway, with just over 24 hours until Ilan's 4th birthday, it's an opportunity for me to wonder where the past 48 months have gone! I just don't know, but I do know that it's been an incredible time watching him develop into a confident and gorgeous little boy, and I pray that this continues.
While all these exciting and amazing things happen, it's only natural that lifecycle events should come to the fore. So, as Michal starts holding her bottle while feeding, and becoming more aware of her surroundings, my 92-year-old grandma is critically ill in hospital, unable to feed herself, and suffering from dementia and pneumonia. As the family matriarch, my grandma has been an absolute rock of support to us all, in so many ways throughout our lives, and we pray for her health and comfort at this difficult time.
