Do the Islamists accept a Jewish presence in the Middle East?

Let's put the thorny question of Israel to one side...

Would the Islamists allow a substantial, or even a small Jewish population to exist in the Middle East? And if so, precisely where would they allow these Jews to live? Dubai? Cairo? Beiruit??

Of course, The PC Islamists, living in England, and blogging till their heart's content on The JC website, argue that everything would be alright if Israel dissolves herself and becomes just like Milton Keynes.

But are they right? Or is the history of the Jews in the Middle East (and North Africa) just a little more complicated than some people would have us believe?
