"As this House knows, various UK passport-holders have, unfortunately, been implicated in the killing of a Hamas terrorist in his hotel room in Dubai. Having spoken to the Israeli authorities I can assure this House that none of them were actually involved. So it does appear that Mossad had created a number of fake UK passports without the permission of this government.

However, I would like to congratulate Israel and Mossad for successfully carrying out such a difficult operation in Dubai. In the war against terrorism, the UK stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel. She is on the firing line of the Hamas rockets and has regularly been a victim of terrorist attacks.

Although, technically it is not protocol to forge the passports of another country, I fully understand that ther Israelis had no option but to do so. After all, they coud not have travelled to Dubai on Israeli passports! (laughter)

As a result, although I am unable to publicly condone what the Israeli authorities did, I congratulate them for it. Perhaps it was a bit of chutzpah on their part, but who can blame them for deciding to remove a dangerous Hamas terrorist in Dubai? "
