As a Eurovision fan, and I mean having watched since I can remember, I heard this week that the entry for Turkey comes from a Jewish family.
This might be just because of a good song, or a very clever move on the part of Turkey to somehow build bridges? Somehow I don't think so, but its a good story.
Israel has won three times. In 1978 with "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" performed by Izhar Cohen and The Alphabeta, in 1979 Hallelujah" performed by Milk And Honey, and in 1998 with "Diva" performed by Dana International .
I hope that every year the Israeli entry or the British entry to Eurovision will somehow win, but like many other fans, the chances are not very likely, now we have the so called old "Eastern block" vote.
To be fair, whether we win or not, really doesn't matter, its the taking part that counts right?
With Erdogan of Turkey,currently in the middle of a tumultuous path with his growing friendship with Iran, maybe this might be a clever move on Turkeys part to appease maybe the Jewish voters?
The song isn't that bad, but not the best I have heard, and I do not think it will win.
There were whispers that the "Palestinians" wanted to participate. I doubt very much that will happen but you never know. If they did, could it be conceivable that Israel would give them 12 points, and they would give Israel 12 points?
Might this lead to a "Middle Eastern" block vote?
So Eurovision could be a path to some sort of peace, but I would prefer to see Terry Wogan broker the deal.
