Believing in Israel makes strange bedfellows

There's a conference taking place in London next month, under the heading WE BELIEVE IN ISRAEL. http://www.webelieveinisrael.org/
It's a BICOM event, but it is supported by the Fair Play Campaign Group, the Jewish Leadership Council, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Zionist Federation and the New Israel Fund. The ZF and NIF? Together? What strange bedfellows!!
What about all the bile emanating from senior ZF officials about the New Israel Fund? Has that been forgotten? Have they been forgiven? For Israel? In any case, it's a welcome move for a conference that will enable people to "show their support in one simple concept – Israel as a democratic and Jewish state".
Democratic and Jewish means a two-state solution, because if Israel holds on to the occupied territories it will be neither.

It's likely to be a good conference (if the shouties stay away), because it has help from Makom, "an Israel Engagement initiative supported by the Jewish Agency" (probably the only worthwhile thing the Agency does nowadays) "that embraces the vibrant complexity of Israel and the Jewish People."
Glad to hear someone does.
