As with many things, it's during times of crisis that one can really appreciate what they have. In this case, Michal's extended period of being unwell has been met with the most generous support and kindness from our community...which goes from five doors away all the way to LA!
This has manifested itself through texts, phone calls, emails, face-to-face conversations, and of course, Facebook messages! And such support it greatly appreciated in such difficult times.
After three days spent in Barnet hospital on IV antibiotics, Michal was released home to go onto oral antibiotics. Unfortunately, her infection didn't clear totally and she was readmitted to Barnet yesterday afternoon, before being moved onto Great Ormond Street Hospital last night. A minor operation this afternoon to have an abscess removed seems to have gone well, and hopefully Michal and Lauren will be home tomorrow.
In nearly four years of being a parent, I experienced my worst moment today, when I held Michal in theatre while she was given a general anaesthetic. Seeing her be forced to inhale the anaesthetic and then her going all limp was the most horrible experience, and one I pray I never have to repeat. Thank G-d, the op appears to have gone well (according to Michal's subsequent responses/activity), but we still await the surgeon's review and report.
