The day ended in mass hysteria - laughing not crying! We had a fabulous day, achieved so much at the Rebecca Sieff centre and had a great deal of fun together.
We began our day at the RSC as we split into two groups. One went straight to work on the garden painting railings, benches and converted an old slide into a beautiful flower display. As the renovations progressed two children came with their therapists to begin using what will be a tranquil, peaceful garden.
The second group began work painting a mural which spanned the length of 20 metres. The mural is based on an Israeli classic Raspberry Juice. It includes giraffes, hedgehogs, squirrels and what seems like 100’s of trees and leaves!! The design had been pre-prepared for us by a security guard at the centre and it is truly fabulous.
After lunch some of the girls visited the Leila Wimborne room which is the student hair salon. They assisted the girls with their training session so that they had the opportunity to practice for their final exams. It also gave us the chance to interact with the students and learn about their circumstances and why they are using the vocational centre at the Rebecca Sieff centre.
We left the Centre to visit the Kotel, which we all found very moving. 83 group photos later we left to return to Beit Heuss.
On our return, armed with 1 pair of very small scissors, one pair of nail scissors and 1 glue stick we spent 3 hours preparing the arts and crafts activities for the children which includes books about The Hungry Little Caterpillar. That was a huge challenge in itself!
We have taken 100’s of pictures and they are all on-line here for you to see – please, please note that they were taken with a WIDE ANGLED LENS!!!!!!!
