Is there a wittier Jewish writer out there than Aaron “West Wing” Sorkin?
Having managed to convince a fair proportion of Americans to vote for Jed Bartlet in the 2004 election, he’s now looking ahead to 2012.
Writing on the Huffington Post, he lays in to Republican maybe-candidate Sarah Palin, and how.
It’s all because the Alaskan politician and champion animal hunter, currently gracing American screens on her reality show Sarah Palin's Alaska, sliced and diced a caribou on TV.
She then responded to her critics on Facebook with this message: “Unless you've never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather chair or eaten meat, save your condemnation."
Now, personally I’m not one for the animal-shooting. I’m a vegetarian, but I do eat fish and wear leather shoes, and have been known to squish a spider in my time, so I can’t really dispute the sentiment – if you eat meat, you can’t object to it being killed.
But apparently, Aaron Sorkin can. Calling it a “snotty quote”, the wordsmith explained why he finds what she did “heart-stoppingly disgusting”.

“You phony pioneer girl.”
“That was the first moose ever murdered for political gain.”
“Sarah Palin is deranged and The Learning Channel should be ashamed of itself.”
And my personal favourite: “I'm in film and television, Cruella, and there was an insert close-up of your manicure while you were roughing it in God's country. I know exactly how many feet off camera your hair and make-up trailer was.”
No judgement on Sarah, but oh how I wish Sorkin could run her campaign.
