With the wealth of material provided to me by my gorgeous kids, there really should be no excuse for my blogs not being more regular than they currently are. So my new year's resolution is to blog more often.
While many will remember the end of the first decade watching fireworks in the shadow of Big Ben, drinking themselves into a stupor, or just enjoying a quiet night with their friends and family, my memory will be the first time my daughter stood up on her own, just hours before the decade's conclusion. It was a quite magnificent and hilarious moment, as she stood there for several seconds, not certain what to do next, before slowly lowering herself to sit down on the floor...as the rest of us sat there laughing and nearly crying at the situation!
This is just the latest in a line of significant developments over the past month from Michal, which also includes saying "Dadda" and "Babba" (for Mummy). I distinctly remember Ilan's development gathering pace at the same age, so every day is something to look forward in terms of Michal's own growth. Please G-d she'll be walking on her own soon enough...though that will inevitably bring its own challenges too.
Having ended the noughties with Michal standing, Ilan was to deliver his own unforgettable words to me on day three of the new decade...which again nearly brought me to tears. The two of us - yes, Ilan's very into his DIY - spent some of Sunday morning putting together a new chest of drawers for his room. Having had to interrupt progress to go out, we returned late in the day when the kids ate dinner and I finished putting the drawers together. When Ilan came into his room to see the result, he beamed and said: "Fantastic. You're my hero Daddy!" UGH! What more could any doting father wish for than such high praise from their children!
