We have had a blogger endeavouring to bash Israel by comparing chalk with cheese.
Israel is not England. England was not founded as a safe haven for and as country for the self-determination of an English people that had suffered two thousand years of continuous persecution in the lands of their dispersion as Israel was. Although Christianity is the official religion of England it was not founded to enable Christians to practice their religion without fear of persecution.
Furthermore Israel unlike say the United States is not a melting pot - with very few exceptions Jews do not live in predominantly Arab villages and Arabs do not live in predominantly Jewish villages but this does not hold in say the major conurbations of the north of the country where there are mixed communities living in harmony. This is a matter of free choice in a democratic country and is unlike the proposed Palestinian State in which no Jews are to be allowed to live let alone in mixed communities.
Therefore the comparison was odious as was the inherent charge of racism against the Jewish State. I am aware that some Rabbis have come out against renting property in particular properties to non-Jews but those were special cases where the people living in the bproperties concerned had expressed the wish to preserve an Orthodox Jewish atmosphere so that all residents would be obliged for example to respect the sanctity of the Sabbath.
The blogger is obviously ignorant of the fact that there are properties owned by Arabs in Pisgat Ze'ev which are advertised for rental to "Arabs Only".This is a cultural thing which maybe to English eyes is unacceptable but again this is a case of the English endeavouring to impose their cultural values on other peoples - which given the recent riots is somewhat patronising.
