Property website Zoopla has said it will end its £3-million shirt sponsorship deal with West Bromwich Albion football club over Nicolas Anelka's quenelle gesture.

In a statement released this afternoon, Zoopla said the sponsorship would cease at the end of the current season in May.

A spokesman said: “Zoopla has been reviewing its position over the past few weeks in light of the actions of striker, Nicolas Anelka, during the match against West Ham over the Christmas period and has decided to focus its attention on other marketing activities after this season."

The website is co-owned by Jewish businessman Alex Chesterman, who is said to be shocked by WBA’s decision to continue picking the former French international following his Nazi-style salute three weeks ago.
