A pregnant woman went to her local community centre – and gave birth.
The woman, a member of Broughton’s Charedi community in Salford, had visited the centre, which shares premises with a local library yesterday lunchtime when the contractions began, it is understood.
Luckily, there was a midwife in the building at the time. And 40 minutes later, they emerged from the building, known as The Hub, with a healthy baby boy.
At one stage, it was suggested that she had gone into labour in the library, although details are unclear at this stage.
