American Steve Greenberg made history a decade ago when he came out as the first openly gay, Orthodox rabbi.

Now he has just become the first Orthodox rabbi to conduct a same-sex marriage. The wedding of Yoni Bock and Ron Kaplan took place at a non-denominational synagogue in Washington under new state laws recognising same-sex marriage.

Rabbi Greenberg, a regular visitor to Limmud conferences here, is one rabbi you will not find on the candidates' list for UK Chief Rabbi.
