Vanessa Feltz had been honoured with a place in the Radio Academy Hall of Fame in recognition of her 27-year broadcasting career.
Speaking after receiving the accolade at a ceremony at the Savoy hotel, she said: "It is the highest honour you can get in radio and I'm alongside industry greats like Terry Wogan, Tony Windsor and Jimmy Young. It is a wonderful privilege.
Ms Feltz currently hosts the early morning show on BBC Radio 2 and a slightly later morning show on Radio London.
She said the award meant even more given that past winners had nearly all been men.
"As a woman it is amazing and I'm the first Jewish women to win I'm sure.
"It was magical - I was joined by my family; daughters and grandchildren. I think I'm an empathetic and enthusiastic as broadcaster and people like my vocabulary and the way I do things with words. My listeners call me the lexicon."
