The son of the Jewish mayor of Miami-Dade County has publicly called on his mother to divest $100m in Israel bonds held by her office.

Ted Cava, the son of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and a member of anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) South Florida, attended a county hall press conference last week wearing a T-shirt saying: "Jews say divest from genocide”.

Speaking to the Miami Herald on his decision to confront his mother, Cava said: “This is very uncomfortable for me. I love my mother a lot.

“I think she’s been a great mayor. I disagree with her on certain issues. This, to me, is probably the most important one...
