JVP South Florida estimates Miami-Dade to have over £100 million invested in Israeli bonds.
The activist group posted on its Instagram: “The county’s decision to invest [£111 million] in Israel Bonds has not been driven by a focus on improving quality of life for Miami-Dade County taxpayers but, rather, politically motivated by a desire to ‘stand with Israel."
JVP South Florida also arranged a protest outside the press conference.
The Maimi Herald asked the mayor how the difference of opinion affects her family dynamic, to which she replied briefly: “I know many, many people, including in my own family, who are extremely concerned about the situation, as am I, and exactly how we deal with it. There are differences, of course.”
And when asked about the prospect of her calling on a portfolio change, she said: "I'm not weighing in."
