Jewish Democrats have rebuked President Trump’s claim that Jews who vote against him are disloyal, with one senator accusing him of “encouraging antisemites throughout the country and world”.

The President has come under fire in recent days after appearing to draw on an antisemitic trope of Jewish "dual loyalty" to Israel while addressing journalists in the Oval Office.

Speaking about Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, two congresswomen who were denied entry into Israel, President Trump said that Jewish Americans who vote Democrat show “either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty”.

He later clarified his remarks, saying that those who vote Democrat were “being very disloyal to Jewish people and very disloyal to Israel”.
