Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler are the leading Jewish stars nominated for the Golden Globes.
Chalamet is up for Best Male Actor (Musical or Comedy) for his portrayal of title character Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme.
The film follows a young, arrogant, and ambitious Mauser as he pursues his dream of fame and prosperity in table tennis in 1950s New York.
Chalamet stars alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O’Leary, and Fran Drescher in the film, due for release in the UK on December 26, delivering what has been dubbed by critics as his “career-best work”.
The film itself has also garnered plenty of acclaim, and is nominated for Best Screenplay for Jewish writers Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie.
The evergreen Sandler receives his nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his depiction of the manager of lead character Jay Kelly in the eponymous Netflix film.
George Clooney plays Kelly, whose character is a famous actor, and the two embark together upon a serendipitous journey through Europe, which sees them navigate tense situations and tackle past relationships.
In the musical section of the awards, there are two Best Original Song nominations for Stephen Schwartz, who co-wrote the 2003 stage musical version of Wicked.
The songs are No Place Like Home and The Girl in the Bubble, making Schwartz the only composer with two nominations in the category.
The 2026 Golden Globes Ceremony, which is the 83rd edition of the awards, will take place on January 11 at The Beverly Hilton hotel in California.
