The first British woman to study for Orthodox ordination has been appointed scholar in residence at a United Synagogue community.
Dina Brawer, who is the UK ambassador for the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance, will be leading several Shabbat study sessions at Hampstead Synagogue in London.
In 2014, Mrs Brawer enrolled as a long-distance student at Yeshivat Maharat in New York, the first yeshivah set up to train women as modern Orthodox spiritual leaders. Some graduates have gone on to call themselves "rabbah".
Mrs Brawer said on the shul's website that she was "delighted that Hampstead Synagogue has invited me to teach".
She added that she hoped the opportunity would allow her "to build meaningful relationships and derive much inspiration".
