Police have issued a second £10,000 fine over the wedding at a Stamford Hill school they raided the week before last.

The family hosting the event at the state-aided Yesodey Hatorah Senior Girls School, which was attended by around 150 people, has already received a £10,000 fine.

Hackney Council has also ordered a full review of the governance at the school, which was previously placed in special measures after being ranked inadequate by Ofsted.

Philip Glanville , the Mayor of Hackney, said, “That the police have issued a further £10,000 fine in connection with the wedding at Yesodey Hatorah School shows what a very serious issue this is.

“With the risk of new Covid-19 variants and infections still running high, large gatherings of any kind present a very real risk to health and to life.”

In a brief statement on Tuesday night, the Metropolitan Police said investigating officers had been "able to identify a second person involved [in] the holding of the event".

Its investigation into the incident had now concluded.

Mr Glanville said the borough’s director of education had ordered" an internal investigation at the school and a full review of its governance”.

The council, he said, continued to “work closely with our partners in the Charedi community to make sure local people, organisations and businesses understand the regulations, to encourage compliance, testing and vaccination, and to keep Stamford Hill safe.”
