Jewish Human Rights Watch has welcomed a u-turn by two Welsh councils on their decision to boycott Israeli goods.

Gwynedd County Council and Swansea City Council have reversed their boycott decisions, after court proceedings issued by JHRW earlier in the year.

The councils said that the motions had been non-binding and that they had had no practical effect.

JHRW said in a statement that they welcome the U-turns and are “delighted to declare that now no local councils in Wales support anti-Jewish boycotts”.

JHRW have said it will be redoubling its legal efforts against the councils which still supported the BDS movement, and called upon them to “follow Wales’ lead and bring to an end their Jew-hating campaigns”.

In October the government announced plans to amend legislation to stop local councils launching politically-motivated boycotts of Israel.
