Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton may have put the odd nose out of joint in her mid-morning show on Tuesday.
A fellow-presenter told her that when he googled her name, keying in the question “Is Fearne Cotton…”, the first word the search engine automatically supplied to complete it was “Jewish” (which indicates a popular line of inquiry).
Ms Cotton, who is not of the faith, suggested that this was “probably because I’ve got quite a big nose and that might be something to do with it maybe”.
At which point some of our button-nosed co-religionists must have been about to hit the phones to complain of stereotyping.
But she probably did enough to disarm them, adding: “People have that cliché thing, don’t they?”
