Saulius Ritter won a silver medal for Lithuania in the Olympic double sculls. But why does what could be the Hebrew word for soldier, chayal, appear on his thigh? Barry Hyman, the eagle-eyed reader from Bushey who spotted it, said a friend he consulted speculated that it might stand for something like "Lithuania lives".
