The JC says it with trees

articlemain

To mark the JC’s 175th anniversary, the paper is teaming up with the JNF to plant 3,000 trees in Israel — with a little help from its readers.

The JC will donate the first 175 trees for the Lord Sacks Forest near Jerusalem, with readers contributing the remainder. Anyone taking out a new subscription to the paper during 2016 will have a tree automatically planted on their behalf.

And any reader placing an announcement in the paper’s Social and Personal column during the year will also be offered the opportunity to have a tree planted for them. A running total of how many trees have been donated will appear on the Social and Personal pages throughout 2016.

As a publication printing thousands of copies each week, the choice of this project as one of the ways to celebrate its 175th year was a natural.

It allows the JC — and its readers — to replace some of the stock of trees used in producing the paper. And, of course, enhance the environment in Israel at the same time.

JNF was an obvious partner. The charity has 115 years’ experience supporting environmental causes in the region and plants around 4,000 trees a year.

To take out a new subscription, you can either subscribe online or call 0800 328 0536.
