Soldiers, veterans and former president Yitzhak Navon mark 90 years since the establishment of the Haganah – the main Jewish defence organisation in British Mandate Palestine and the basis for the IDF
The IDF’s Chief of General Staff, Gabi Ashkenazi, described the Haganah veterans as the “heroes of Israel.”
He said: You were the ones to pave the way for the IDF as the army of the Jewish people, and as a body that can promise to the world ‘never again’.
"I salute you."
