David Grossman to appear at Edinburgh Book Festival

Organisers 'completely thrilled' that Israeli author will attend event to discuss his Man Booker-winning novel

Israeli author David Grossman, winner of the 2017 Man Booker International Prize, has been added to the line-up at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

“We are completely thrilled that Grossman will join us at the Book Festival to talk about his winning novel,” the festival organisers have said.

Mr Grossman will read from his award-winning book A Horse Walks Into a Bar on August 16 at The Best International Novel of 2017 event, which will be chaired by Nick Barley, the director of the book festival.

Jerusalem-born, and still based in the city, Mr Grossman is a bestselling writer of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books who has been translated into 36 languages, and has been honoured with numerous awards including the French Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Frankfurt peace prize.

Another late addition to the festival is Hollywood actress Isla Fisher, who is married to the actor and writer Sacha Baron Cohen. Ms Fisher has written three children’s books, and she will be talking about her latest, Marge and the Great Train Rescue, during the Children’s Programme on August 19.
