Tanya Franks hopes for artistic acclaim by showing Fools in Love

Yp and coming artist Tanya Franks is exhibiting her work at Hampstead’s Burgh House. Called Fools in Love, this is the biggest gig yet for Ms Franks, who gave up a career in psychotherapy to pursue her passion for art.

Self-taught, she is showcasing her work with Spanish artist Elena Sainz Moreno. “I am very excited about it,” she tells People. “I am a member of the Brent Art Resources Centre and have exhibited my pieces in the Willesden Green Gallery but this is my main exhibition so far.”

Ms Franks, who manages her father’s gallery in Primrose Hill, mainly works in watercolour, gouache and ink. “The pieces are very imaginary, symbolic and figurative. There are quite a lot of biblical etchings.”

Much of her inspiration derives from Folk Mythology and Medieval illuminated manuscripts, found in prayer books. She was also influenced by the late Jewish artist Gerald Ososki. “He encouraged me to develop my artistic skill, from as young as seven years old.”
