A Swindon man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty on Friday to wearing t-shirts promoting proscribed Palestinian groups in Golders Green in June.

Feras Al Jayoosi, 34, admitted four counts of wearing an article of clothing supporting a proscribed organisation.

Appearing before Westminster Magistrates' Court today, he was released on conditional bail ahead of sentencing next month.

He was accused of wearing t-shirts promoting Hamas’ military wing and Palestine Islamic Jihad on several occasions in Golders Green and at Barbury Castle in May and June, BBC News reports.

The Community Security Trust said it was “grateful” to police and the Crown Prosecution Service for the outcome.

A spokesperson for the Jewish charity said the incident came “so soon after the huge rise in antisemitism and anti-Jewish extremism during the recent conflict in Israel.”

“He was caught due to the swift action and cooperation between the security guards in Golders Green, CST’s National Security Control Centre and counter-terrorism police and we are grateful to the police and CPS for securing this conviction"
