articlemain

A sports agent who represented Olympics hero and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Greg Rutherford has denied charges of stealing £66,000 from the long-jumper.

Gaby Stone, 33, pleaded not guilty to one count of theft from the Olympic gold medal winner when he appeared at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday.

Mr Stone, who wore a white shirt, black tie, black skinny jeans and suede shoes, was told he will stand trial on January 30 next year.

He also represents gymnastic silver medallist Louis Smith and used to represent the boxer Nicola Adams.

Mr Rutherford, 29, won the long jump gold medal at the 2012 Games, 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 and 2016 European Athletics Championships and 2015 World Athletics Championships. He topped the 2015 IAAF Diamond League rankings in the event.

He won a bronze medal when attempting to defend his Olympic title in Rio last month.

Mr Stone was granted unconditional bail until his trial.
